New venture fund aims to support early-stage startups in robotics, industrial AI, and advanced manufacturing, while helping them move from prototypes to large-scale production
San Francisco Bay Area, 26 October 2026 – MISUMI Americas has launched a $50 million investment fund to support startups developing robotics, automation, advanced hardware, and industrial artificial intelligence. Called MISUMI Ventures, the fund aims to help promising companies turn new ideas into practical technologies that can be used across manufacturing and other industries.
The fund plans to invest in 20 to 30 seed-stage and early-stage companies. Initial investments will typically range from $500,000 to $1.5 million, with additional funding reserved for companies that need further support as they grow. MISUMI Ventures expects to work alongside established Silicon Valley venture capital firms rather than lead investment rounds during its early years.
The investment strategy focuses on technologies that could change how products are designed, manufactured, and delivered. These include industrial robotics, factory automation, advanced manufacturing systems, supply chain intelligence, autonomous manufacturing, and generative design.
The fund will also consider opportunities in related fields such as aerospace, electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, satellites, climate technology, and medical devices.
The initiative reflects MISUMI Group’s broader investment plans, which include a $1 billion Global Investment Vision to support business growth and innovation. Through MISUMI Ventures, the company aims to strengthen its presence in North America, where many emerging industrial technology businesses are developing new products and production methods.
Arata Shimizu, representative director and president of MISUMI Group, said the fund would allow the company to support innovative businesses early in their development while learning from the technologies they create.
For hardware startups, securing investment is only one part of building a successful business. Moving from a working prototype to mass production can bring challenges involving suppliers, manufacturing costs, quality control, and delivery schedules. A product that performs well in testing must also be produced consistently and at a scale that meets customer demand.
MISUMI Ventures intends to address this gap by combining financial investment with access to manufacturing and supply chain expertise. Companies in its portfolio will be able to draw on MISUMI Americas’ industrial network, which includes more than 30 million standard parts, 22 factories, and approximately 4,000 sourcing partners across several regions.
Dave Evans, president and CEO of MISUMI Americas, highlighted the difficulties hardware companies face when moving into production. He said the fund would offer founders engineering and supply chain support alongside investment capital, helping them scale manufacturing without repeatedly changing suppliers.
This approach could be particularly useful for robotics startups, whose products often require specialized mechanical components, reliable production processes, and close coordination between hardware and software teams.
MISUMI Ventures has been established as an independent investment structure, with MISUMI Group serving as its sole limited partner. Its founding partners are Eddie Chen, Dave Evans, and Nate Evans, who leads MISUMI AI. The fund expects to make its first investment by the end of 2026.
As demand for industrial automation and physical AI grows, the connection between investment and manufacturing capabilities could become an important advantage for emerging technology companies. MISUMI Ventures is positioning itself to support startups not only as they develop new ideas, but also as they work to bring those ideas into commercial production.
The fund’s long-term success will depend on the companies it backs and their ability to build commercially viable technologies. However, its approach highlights an opportunity for industrial investors to combine capital, engineering knowledge, and production expertise to help new technologies reach the market.
