Epson Robots, the #1 SCARA robot manufacturer in the world, has officially announced an expansion of its 6-Axis robot lineup with the new C-B Series. Powered by the RC700E controller and integrated SafeSenseâ„¢ technology, this series reportedly comes decked up with models like C4B, C4LB, C8LB, C8XLB, and C12XLB, each one designed to cater to a wide range of automation needs, and therefore, deliver therefore top performance across various industrial environments. More on the same would reveal how Epson Robots’ latest brainchild features an advanced GYROPLUS® vibration reduction technology for fast production speeds and smooth motion control. Furthermore, it delivers at your disposal multiple arm configurations with a reach of up to 1,400 mm, capable of handling demanding tasks at an ultra-high precision rate. The whole package also has a SlimLine design which integrates seamlessly into Standard and Cleanroom/ESD environments, supporting payloads of up to 12 kg all while maintaining a small form factor. Moving on, the RC700E controller, powered by SafeSense technology, is understood to facilitate safe human-robot interaction without a safety fence. This it does through safety-rated speed and position monitoring combined with a proper risk analysis. Such an advanced functionality, on its part, enhances productivity by enabling faster machine interactions for daily operations, potentially reducing the need for physical safety barriers and thus lowering the overall footprint and cost of the automation system. In case that wasn’t quite enough, you can also place that next to no-code Epson RC+® Express software to easily create industrial collaborative solutions with exceptional speed and repeatability.
Now, we did refer to the series’ SlimLine design, but what didn’t acknowledge was how the compact wrist pitch allows access to hard-to-reach areas in confined spaces. It further offers tabletop and ceiling mounting options, with 600 and 900 mm reaches available for the C4B and C4LB models. There are also 900 and 1,400 mm reaches available for the C8LB and C8XLB models and a 1,400 mm reach available for the C12XLB model. Anyway, then we have the prospect of achieving fast cycle times. The stated high acceleration, smooth motion, and fast settling times can be markedly expected to help maximize throughput with proprietary Epson GYROPLUS vibration reduction system, plus no ringing or overshoot. Not just extraordinary speed, but the new series in question also presents an easy-to-use mechanism which ensures that the intuitive and feature-packed Epson RC+ development software can let you create powerful solutions through a simple user interface, integrated debugger, and an advanced 3D simulator. Complimenting the same is a pledge to conceive low total cost of ownership. To expand upon that, we ought to mention how the series packs together for you battery-less encoders and Epson RC+ software with no recurring license fee. Apart from that, you can also access rich suite of safety features included with RC700E controller. The robots will also remain TUV-certified to meet ISO 10218-1 and UL1740 safety standards.
“To meet the most demanding needs of high-tech automation users, we have expanded the innovative features from the top-of-the-line GX-Series SCARA robots to the top-of-the-line C Series 6-Axis robots,” said Scott Marsic, group product manager at Epson Robots. “The new C-B Series addresses a wide range of automation and workplace safety needs while underscoring Epson’s commitment to advance industrial automation with cutting-edge solutions that optimize performance and reliability across diverse manufacturing environments.”
Among other features, we must dig into the series’ robust nature, as the availability of Standard, Cleanroom (ISO32)/ESD and Protected IP67 models go a long distance to ensure that Epson Robots’ new products can thrive in the most demanding environments. Another detail worth a mention here is rooted in an assortment of advanced integrated options, including Vision Guidance, Parts Feeding, Force Guidance, Conveyor Tracking and Fieldbus. Rounding up highlights for us, though, is an advanced OPC UA for robotics connectivity which provides next-level integration and monitoring.
