ONYX Systems, LLC has officially announced the launch of its latest solution i.e. SXi Lithium Ion Battery Powered High-Speed Burnisher.
According to certain reports, the stated burnisher arrives on the scene with an ability to serve decorative concrete contractors, building service contractors, building maintenance and janitorial staff, as well as Jan-San distributors, More on the same would reveal how it brings to the fore Al zero emission propane engine-like productivity performance, all while running at a whisper-quiet level.
Before we dig into further into the given solution, though, we must try and acknowledge some recent projections that expect global decorative concrete market to grow from USD 18.3 billion in 2023 to USD 24.3 billion by 2028, with a CAGR of 5.8%. As for what is driving this growth, the answer resides in an increasing demand for durable, sustainable flooring solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. You see, with builders and architects now putting greater emphasis upon environment-friendly and cost-effective materials, decorative concrete’s versatility and environmental benefits has tipped it to become the preferred option in this space moving forward
Talk about how ONYX’s latest brainchild will capitalize upon the given potential, we must begin from its propane engine-like productivity. Delivering power and efficiency comparable to traditional propane-powered engine machines, SXi Lithium Ion Battery provides you with high energy density batteries that power a 3.75kW electric motor, delivering 5hp. Markedly enough, this happens to be three times the horsepower of corded high-speed floor burnishers. Furthermore, SXi can burnish up to 34,000 square-foot per hour of flooring, thanks to the added power transmitted to the floor, and it can do so without mandating the requirement of any swinging action.
Next up, we must get into the technology’s configuration & application versatility. In essence, SXi banks upon the same frame design as the ONYX X-Series of propane-powered engine machinery. Such a setup, like you can guess, makes it possible for contractors to enjoy a similar operational look and feel that they are accustomed to when using ONYX X-Series machinery. Beyond that, these contractors can also come expecting a facility to configure the solution in terms of battery prowess. You see, while the single battery setting will allow them a 2+ hour runtime, deploying a dual battery pack would take the same runtime to 4+ hours.
Another detail worth a mention is rooted in the availability of a battery power management system which ensures constant pad speed and pressure over varying floor conditions for consistent burnishing performance. Moving on, there is available a variable speed facility for optimal application performance (1,000rpm to 1,850rpm).
Among other things, the technology conceives optimal flexibility in the context of letting users adjust head pressure in three different ways to optimize application specific head pressure. Complementing the same would be a sleek low-profile design which features an LED lighting strip to illuminate burnishing path for the operator.
“The SXi Burnisher represents a significant step forward in our product lineup,” said Stuart Proctor, Marketing VP at ONYX Systems, LLC. “With its powerful performance and incredibly quiet operation, we’re excited to offer a solution that meets the high standards of various demanding environments while continuing to support our commitment to sustainable technology. The i-Series represents our dedication to advancing battery technology and providing our customers with cutting-edge solutions that enhance performance and efficiency.”
Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t touched on SXi’s bid to deliver a quiet operation, thus minimizing disruption in sensitive environments. We also haven’t yet acknowledged the fact that it will provide zero-emission alternatives to ONYX’s near-zero emission propane-powered engine machines, something which builds upon ONYX’s plans of advancing Green Technology.
Making the whole proposition even more impressive are its early results. Going by the ISSA Cleaning Times publication, the SXi was able to clock a 240% productivity increase over a 20″ corded burnisher.
As for the possible use cases of this technology, they include cleaning and maintenance crews in schools, college campuses, municipal buildings, big box retail stores, malls, industrial and commercial buildings, warehouses, and more.
