A Smartwatch Innovation with Solar Energy Undertones to Conceive a More Robust Wearable Experience

Garmin has officially announced the launch of its fēnix® 8 Series, which happens to include next-gen premium multisport GPS smartwatches that offer a bright AMOLED display, along with a solar charging display facility for even greater battery life. According to certain reports, the stated fēnix® 8 Series comes decked up with an ability to provide advanced strength training features, dive capabilities, an internal speaker and mic, as well as a battery life that stays good for 29 days on a single charge. In fact, the 51mm solar model, with an always-on display, offers up to 48 days worth of battery life. Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from the given smartwatches’ pledge to offer you a choice between AMOLED or solar. To expand upon the same, customers can choose between a bright AMOLED display or an always-on display with a solar charging lens which harnesses the power of sun in a more effective manner. This allows it to provide 50% more solar power than its predecessor. Featuring refreshed graphics in both the iterations, the AMOLED options is set to be available in three sizes – 43mm, 47mm or 51mm. On the other hand, the solar charging option will launch available in 47mm or 51mm sizes. Next up, we must get into the rugged design of Garmin’s smartwatches. You see, both the models in question deliver at your disposal leakproof metal buttons, and a new sensor guard tasked with protecting essential sensors, a guard which has been tested to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance.

Anyway, more on the design would reveal how the device is also decked up with premium materials like an optional titanium bezel and optional scratch-resistant sapphire lens. These materials, like you can guess, are used to make the smartwatch withstand even the harshest of conditions.

“We’re thrilled to introduce our most capable fēnix yet. This latest lineup not only adds new design details, sport-specific training enhancements and convenient communication tools, it also allows users to choose between a beautiful AMOLED display or solar charging for extra-long battery life. If you’re looking for a sophisticated smartwatch that can hold you accountable and help you reach your health and wellness goals, look no further than fēnix 8,” said Dan Bartel, Vice President of Global Consumer Sales at Garmin.

Moving on, Garmin’s latest brainchild further has in place a built-in speaker and microphone. This means you can seamlessly take phone calls from the watch, assuming you have the device paired with a compatible smartphone. Apart from that, certain voice commands like “start a strength training activity”, “set a timer for 5 minutes”, “save waypoint,” and more, can be activated right from the watch, with no phone connection required whatsoever. There is also a built-in LED flashing, which is complimented by an option to control brightness. Here, variable intensities i.e. a red light and strobe mode can help provide greater awareness in different environments, such as during a training run, searching for a lost toy under the couch, reading a menu at a dimly-lit restaurant, and more. Another detail worth a mention is rooted in the way this device can help you conduct advanced strength training. In essence, it does the same through targeted, 4-6-week strength training plans that help you meet your personal goals. Joining the same is a set of sport-specific workouts for athletes of all types, including trail runners, surfers, skiers and more.

Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we haven’t touched on the device’s advanced mapping and navigation facility. The stated facility basically translates to how you can view terrain contours on TopoActive maps, while simultaneously accessing preloaded maps for thousands of golf courses and ski resorts around the world. To along with that, there is a brand-new map interface which allows users to easily customize map layers and get the most out of their navigation.
