Titomic Brings Cold Spray Innovation to U.S. Air Force Sustainment

A new high pressure manufacturing system is set to support component repair, restoration, and advanced production at Tinker Air Force Base

Huntsville, Alabama, 15 September 2026 – Titomic is expanding its role in advanced manufacturing after its US subsidiary, Titomic USA, received a US$5 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for a next-generation high-pressure cold spray system. The system will be supplied, integrated, and commissioned at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with delivery planned for the third quarter of 2027.

The contract marks an important step for Titomic as it brings its Titomic Kinetic Fusion technology deeper into the aerospace and defense manufacturing sector. The company specializes in industrial scale cold spray additive manufacturing and coating solutions designed to produce, repair, and protect metal components.

At the center of the project is Titomic’s TKF 1000 high pressure cold spray platform. Unlike conventional manufacturing methods that rely heavily on heat to melt materials, cold spray uses high speed particles to build or restore surfaces. This approach can be used for repairing damaged components, restoring dimensions, protecting surfaces against corrosion and wear, and producing new parts.

The system being delivered to Tinker Air Force Base will be more than a standalone machine. It will combine industrial robotic automation with powder and gas management, process monitoring, safety systems, and real time quality verification. The integrated setup is intended to create a production ready capability that can support a range of manufacturing and maintenance requirements.

One important application will be component repair and dimensional restoration. Parts that have experienced wear or damage can potentially be restored rather than completely replaced. This can help extend the useful life of equipment while reducing the time and materials required for certain maintenance activities.

The system will also support additive manufacturing, hybrid manufacturing, corrosion and wear protection, and multi-material deposition. These capabilities give the technology applications beyond traditional repair and open additional possibilities for advanced metal manufacturing.

Titomic USA will support the program from its Huntsville, Alabama operations. The company said the project represents an expansion of its role in the US defense sustainment market and demonstrates growing interest in cold spray technology for industrial applications.

The project also highlights the wider potential of advanced manufacturing in maintaining complex equipment. As manufacturers and maintenance organizations look for ways to reduce downtime, extend component life, and improve production flexibility, technologies that can support repair and restoration are attracting greater attention.

For Titomic, the Tinker Air Force Base project builds on its broader work across aerospace, defense, mining, automotive, oil and gas, and other industrial sectors. Its cold spray technology is designed to address challenges such as long production cycles, material availability, component damage, and the need for more flexible manufacturing processes.

Delivery of the new system is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, subject to site coordination and required approvals. Once installed and commissioned, the technology is expected to give Tinker Air Force Base an additional advanced manufacturing capability for repair, restoration, and production activities.

The contract represents more than a new equipment installation for Titomic. It places its cold spray technology within a major aerospace maintenance environment and creates another opportunity to demonstrate how advanced manufacturing can change the way metal components are produced, repaired, and kept in service.
